New partnerships, safety measures for battery charging and increasing ship-sizes all offer opportunities for Gallinea. MIN explores the company’s Lombardy premises to learn more.
“It’s extremely innovative,” says Andrea Gallinea of his new product line Nautys. The company has provided integrated movements and technological accessories for a new external furniture range. While its core product line is in windscreen wipers (60 per cent) and lifts (40 per cent), Gallinea can’t resist a challenge to make things move.
“The table moves up and down and has an iPhone port, and can emit sound like a speaker,” he says. The range, which was officially launched at Venice Boat Show, is very much targeted at boat owners …. but Gallinea hopes it will also find a home in homes worldwide.

The company is the unique distributor worldwide for Nautys – but will not deal directly with the end user. The plan is to go via OEMs and shipbuilders.
And now the company’s latest challenge has moved from moving tables to developing a box to safely recharge toys’ batteries on boats (especially small yachts).
The box will be for items like Seabobs. “One of the issues for toys with batteries, especially on small yachts, is that there is no fire system,” Gallinea says. So the idea is to make a box for small yachts that will bring safer charging, in which the entire toy – with integrated battery – will sit.

Gallinea (pictured in his factory premises), prides himself on innovation, but says the box it’s the most challenging product he’s made.
“It needs certain characteristics, like fire detection and an inbuilt fire extinguisher and then to be certified by RINA.”
But he believes it is important.
‘The charter market needs to follow the same fire directive as boats over 500 GT.”
Another challenge which Gallinea is facing is the expectations of customers.
“Our main challenge is to always have more accuracy on the product and service we give to customers.”
This is because he says there are reducing numbers of boats, and those buying at the top end of the size market are demanding more complicated and sophisticated products. “There’s higher expectation on the product, so we need to be able to meet these sophisticated requests,” he says and sighs. “The other side of creativity, is managing everything.”
