Azimut unveils renovated Avigliana headquarters

Azimut Yachts has inaugurated its renovated headquarters in Avigliana, in the northern Italian region of Piedmont. The redevelopment project — part of a €50m investment in the production site — includes a restyled main building, a new multifunctional pavilion and updated employee offices.

The inauguration took place on 24 July 2025 and was attended by Giovanna Vitelli, chair of the Azimut-Benetti Group, Marco Valle, chief executive officer, Andrea Archinà, mayor of Avigliana, and approximately 1,500 employees. The project involved the artistic direction of AMDL Circle and Michele De Lucchi, with architectural input on the office redesign from Settanta7. As well as new buildings and interior layouts, the plan included a significant energy efficiency upgrade.

According to Azimut, the redevelopment reflects an evolution in its work model, prioritising collaboration over hierarchy and linking cultural change with the company’s generational transition.

“I had the image of the Louvre pyramid in mind. A statement of changing times, but above all a sign of how the new finds its full power in its relationship with the grandeur of the past. Azimut has a history spanning more than fifty years, and the best way to honour it is to continue evolving, as my father always did,” explains Giovanna Vitelli.

The new pavilion incorporates elements of the original building design, created in the 1990s by Gabetti & Isola, and introduces new architectural features such as floor-to-ceiling windows and a water feature displaying models of Azimut yachts. These include designs that introduced technologies such as hull glazing to replace traditional portholes, first seen in 2003. AMDL Circle, which has previously collaborated with Azimut on various design installations, also developed the building’s heritage walk and entrance pavilion.

The design includes three panoramic meeting rooms named Gogamigoga, Goga and Goghina, referencing Paolo Vitelli’s former boats. These rooms overlook the Sacra di San Michele and use transparency as a recurring visual and architectural theme.

Transparency is also applied to the internal layout. The design approach replaces executive offices with open-plan shared spaces and walls with glass partitions. A new Virtual Reality room has been installed to support daily collaboration between the Technical and Style Offices and to offer yacht owners a more immersive customisation experience.

The headquarters will reopen to staff in September 2025, coinciding with the start of the nautical year.

Azimut was founded in 1969 by Paolo Vitelli and is part of the Azimut-Benetti Group. It produces motor yachts ranging from 42 to 144 feet across seven series and operates five production facilities in Italy, as well as one in Brazil. The brand is present in 80 countries and has offices in Shanghai, Hong Kong, Fort Lauderdale and Itajai.
