Sunseeker secures new capital investment following restructuring

Sunseeker International, based in Poole, Dorset, on the UK south coast, has confirmed that it will receive new capital investment into the Sunseeker Group from its lenders, Cheyne Capital and Cross Ocean Partners.

The lenders, who manage combined assets exceeding $20bn, have agreed to provide additional funding to support the company’s long-term operations.

As part of the agreement, several director changes have been made across certain Sunseeker entities. In parallel, Matt Mawhinney and David Soden of Teneo Financial Advisory Limited have been appointed as receivers over the shares in Sunseeker Investments Limited, an indirect parent company of Sunseeker.

In a statement, Sunseeker confirmed the receivership applies only to that parent company and does not affect Sunseeker’s day-to-day operations.

The company states that its business continues to trade as normal, with no impact on employees, customers, distributors or suppliers. Sunseeker says the funding will help it remain focused on its global order book and ongoing product development, including its superyacht strategy.

The news comes as Sunseeker continues to undergo a restructuring process. In June 2025, the boatbuilder announced it was making 200 redundancies – around 10 per cent of its workforce – highlighting “softening in global demand” following “political and economic uncertainties”, particularly amid the fallout of Trump’s trade tariffs.

Italy’s Orienta Capital Partners and the US’s Lionheart Capital bought Sunseeker International from China’s Wanda real estate group in November 2024.

“This new financing will help to strengthen our financial position and support our ongoing operations. Our focus remains on our existing strategy to ensure the future growth of the business and on continuing to deliver world-class yachts to our customers,” says Andrea Frabetti, CEO of Sunseeker.

Earlier this month (November 2025), Sunseeker appointed Mark Chinery as its new sales director and Mario Gornati as marketing and communications director.
