Freedom Boat Club, part of Brunswick Corporation and recognised as the world’s largest boat club network, has announced plans to open a new Australian location at Kalevu Marina on the Georges River, south of Sydney.
Set to open in July 2026, Freedom Boat Club Sydney South marks another step in the brand’s Asia-Pacific growth strategy and strengthens its presence in Australia’s expanding recreational boating sector.
Located at 25 Harrow Street in Sylvania, the new Sydney South site will provide members with convenient access to Botany Bay and the Georges River. Future development plans include expansion to Port Hacking, broadening opportunities for boating in key leisure areas known for fishing, water sports, and waterfront dining.
Freedom launched new location at d’Albora Rushcutters Bay Marina in Sydney’s eastern suburbs this year and also recently opened a new franchise in New Zealand.
Through the new Sydney South club, Freedom will extend its subscription-based, hassle-free boating model to residents of the Sutherland Shire, offering access to a shared fleet without the costs or maintenance of ownership.
“Demand for flexible and accessible boating experiences in Australia continues to outpace expectations,” says David Kurczewski, general manager, Asia-Pacific, Freedom Boat Club. “The Sydney South club will deliver an exceptional on-water lifestyle for our members, perfectly positioned for exploring some of the most beautiful waters and best fishing in New South Wales.”
Freedom Boat Club Sydney South plans to launch with a diverse fleet, including the Sea Ray SPX 230 and Arvor 705 Weekend, soon to be joined by Trophy and Rayglass boats for offshore fishing adventures. Members receive full training, unlimited boat usage, and reciprocal access to Freedom Boat Club’s global network of more than 400 locations.
The Sydney South franchise is independently owned and operated by Klaus Hahn.
“With Freedom Boat Club Sydney South, we’re creating a seamless, world-class boating experience that fits perfectly into the lifestyle of the Sutherland Shire,” says Hahn. “Our location at Kalevu Marina offers easy access to incredible waterways and a welcoming club community where members can connect, explore, and enjoy life on the water.”
While the Sydney South location will be opening before the 2026-2027 season, members who join now can enjoy access to Freedom Boat Club’s Sydney Harbour Club with a seamless transition to Freedom Boat Club Sydney South when it opens.
