D-Marin has received an EcoVadis Gold Medal for 2025, placing the marina group within the top two per cent of the 130,000 companies evaluated worldwide for environmental, social and governance (ESG) performance.
The Gold rating marks the group’s progression from its previous Silver status. It reflects high scores across the four key areas of the EcoVadis assessment: Environment, Labour and Human Rights, Ethics and Sustainable Procurement.
Earlier this month, D-Marin also won gold awards for sustainability at the Abu Dhabi Maritime Awards, across its portfolio in Turkey and the UAE.
D-Marin reports continued progress on environmental and social targets across its network. The group now holds 26 Blue Flag certifications and has reduced Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 22 per cent since 2021.
Its emissions reduction trajectory – a planned 42 per cent cut by 2023 – is aligned with the Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi) and the Paris agreement.
A core focus of the group’s strategy remained renewable energy. D-Marin currently has 5MW of solar capacity installed across its sites in Turkey, Croatia, and Italy, following an additional €1.5 m in investment over the past year. All Croatian marinas now operate on 100 per cent renewable electricity verified through Guarantees of Origin.
The company also reports expanded waste management and marine protection activities. In the past year, more than 15 tonnes of waste were handled across the portfolio, with 30 per cent recycled. D-Marin says it has achieved a 13 per cent reduction in total waste generation over three years, supported by circular-economy initiatives.
Marine biodiversity programmes are also being extended. Following the introduction of “Biohuts” – artificial fish nurseries developed with Ecocean – at Marina Camille Rayon in France, installations have now been completed at D-Marin Dalmacija (Croatia), D-Marin Gouvia (Greece) and D-Marin Porto Mirabello (Italy).
Commenting on the EcoVadis results, Korina Kostakaki, head of sustainability at D-Marin, says: “At D-Marin, we are committed to excellence across all ESG pillars and to strengthening our performance at every opportunity.
“Our mission is to minimise our environmental impact, drive positive social progress and uphold the highest standards of governance expected by our stakeholders. Earning the EcoVadis Gold Medal is a proud milestone that recognises our ongoing dedication to sustainability, and we remain firmly committed to shaping a more sustainable future for all.”
