The Italian Marine Industry Association has announced the key themes and highlights for this year’s 65th edition of the Genoa International Boat Show 2025.
More than 1,000 boats will be on display alongside 123 new products and 96 premieres. The 2025 edition of the show, taking place 18-23 September, will also see 23 new shipyards participate and exhibitors from 45 countries. These figures build on the positive momentum of last year’s edition.
According to the association’s recent press event held at the Milan Stock Exchange, the key themes of this year’s Genoa International Boat Show will be centred upon innovation, sustainability, market protection and global vocation.
A highlight of the presentation was the announcement of a multi-year collaboration between the Italian Marine Industry Association and the 38th America’s Cup. The partnership aims to support Italy’s marine industry in preparing for the 2027 America’s Cup in Naples, and the agreement will be formally signed during the show on 20 September.
The event also featured the presentation of The State of the Art of the Global Yachting Market – a Deloitte study commissioned by the Association. The analysis reported a strong 2023 compared to a contraction in 2024 for the global boatbuilding market, though stating the superyacht sector remains resilient. The report further noted that potential trade tariffs could impact small to medium-sized boatbuilders, but with Italy’s concentration held in the superyacht sector, the forecast remains positive.
Piero Formenti, president of the Italian Marine Industry Association, underlines the show’s broad scope: “The Genoa International Boat Show 2025 is everyone’s show. It is a show for the industry as a whole, a Show for the entire supply chain: it stems from the unity that drives this sector and represents Italian production on the global stage. The true challenge lies in being a world-class showcase that actually brings together each and every segment of the boating world, along with its history, its authority. Such a challenge may be harder from a commercial standpoint, but it demonstrates this Boat Show’s positioning as the most popular nautical event in the Mediterranean and among the top three in the world.”
The Genoa boat show 2025 will serve as a hub for industry dialogue, beginning with the inaugural conference, this year surrounding ‘development, jobs and innovation driving growth across Italy’, attended by the Italian minister for Infrastructure and Transport Matteo Salvini, the minister for Tourism Daniela Santanchè and the president of the Confederation of Italian Industry Emanuele Orsini.
Marina Stella, general manager of the association, emphasises the event’s focus on innovation, sustainability and international engagement: “This is why I refer to this Show as an exhibition of authority. Created by companies for companies, which is why it has always been able to weather even the most difficult of economic storms, continue to attract operators and visitors from all over the world, and strengthen the global image of Italian boating every year. Our mission, as the national industry association, is to promote a vision that integrates innovation, sustainability, and international openness.”
The show will host over 90 conferences and workshops as part of its Forum25 programme. These events, sponsored by the European Commission, include the 4th edition of the World Yachting Sustainability Forum, ESG-focused discussion, the 11th National Conference on Nautical Tourism and the Blue Economy Industry Forum.
Special initiatives will target younger generations, including start-up showcases, career opportunities, and campaigns and incentives to encourage younger visitors. The TechTrade dates (18-19 September) will provide a dedicated B2B platform for equipment, accessories and components, with over 400 brands.
The 6th Design Innovation Award, chaired this year by renowned designer Walter De Silva, will be presented on 19 September at Genoa’s Palazzo Ducale.
The 65th edition of the show will be supported by several sponsors, including Denza, Eberhard & Co., BPER Banca, North Sails, Sara Assicurazioni, and Roche Bobois.
