Henri-Lloyd has announced a partnership with Scaramouche Sailing Trust, a UK-based charity that uses sailing to create opportunities for young people from diverse backgrounds.
“Scaramouche is exactly the kind of organisation we want to support – doing brilliant work in the sailing world, changing young people’s lives every day. Our sport has real power to do good, and we want to help unlock that,” says Hugo Maurstad, chairman of Monte Rosa Sport.
The partnership will see Henri-Lloyd donate technical marine apparel, base and mid layers, and lifestyle clothing to the charity. The first donation includes 30 pieces of clothing. The agreement follows Henri-Lloyd’s partnership with UK Sailing Academy (UKSA), which also saw the brand provide technical clothing to young sailors and participants.
“This partnership with Henri-Lloyd means our sailors step onto the water equipped like the athletes they are, not just kitted out but backed,” says Lucy Markby, development manager at Scaramouche Sailing Trust. “It’s a huge vote of confidence in the young people we work with, and in everything we can achieve together.”
Supporting young sailors
Scaramouche works with Greig City Academy, a state secondary school in north London, giving students opportunities to sail and develop skills that can support future employment. The programme was founded by Jon Holt, who was recognised by the Yachting Journalists’ Association in 2020 for his work breaking down barriers to sailing.
The trust says more than 400 students took part in its programme last year, across approximately 2,500 sailing days. Three boats entered Cowes Week 2026, while four students went on to full-time maritime careers.
Several Scaramouche alumni have also progressed into competitive sailing. Kai Hockley, who left Greig City Academy in 2024, went on to an internship with Emirates GBR, while Corneille Leprince, who left the school this summer after being selected for the British Sailing Youth Team in June, has signed a contract with Athena Pathway.
Wider giving programme
Henri-Lloyd is owned by Monte Rosa Sport (MRS), which also includes apparel brands Odlo and Janus. The company says the Scaramouche partnership is the first step in a wider programme that will see seasonal inventory donated to charity partners.
Hugo Maurstad, chairman of MRS, says: “We create products that help people enjoy their outdoor activity more and perform better. To help more people enter a sport or activity, we will donate some of our inventory to organisations helping people to a better life.”
Henri-Lloyd and MRS say they hope this partnership will inspire other charities and NGOs to come forward. Organisations interested in partnering with Monte Rosa Sport can contact Tom Clive at tom.clive@odlo.com.
The partnership is the latest in a series of participation-focused initiatives from Henri-Lloyd, which has also partnered with the Upwind offshore sailing development programme.
