Dockmate and Aventics agree control integration

Dockmate wireless remotes let skippers control boat movement away from the helm

Dockmate has signed agreements with Aventics, part of Emerson Automation Solutions, to connect its wireless yacht remote-control systems with the Aventics Marex MPC propulsion control system, including MAN-branded controls.

The agreements set out how the systems will communicate through a CAN-bus interface.

Under the Protocol Licence Agreement, Dockmate now has access to the relevant Aventics CAN communication interface documentation for development work. Both companies have also documented the technical integration through a Development Release Agreement. This specifically covers the connection between the Dockmate remote-control system and the Marex MPC ship remote-control system.

“Working with an established marine technology company such as Emerson and MAN is an important milestone for Dockmate,” says Marc Curreri, CEO, Dockmate US. “This agreement reflects our commitment to developing professional, technically robust integration solutions that give vessel owners greater flexibility and confidence when manoeuvring their boats. This is a game changer for our brand and, more importantly, a win for our customers.”

Dockmate continues to develop wireless remote-control systems and connections with existing marine control technologies.

Its range includes the Red, Single, Twin, Twist and Vector for pod systems. These let skippers move away from the helm while retaining control of the boat’s movement during single-handed docking, giving them a closer view of their surroundings in marinas and other confined spaces.
