When it comes to digitalisation, the sales side of the boatbuilding industry has often outpaced the workshop. Swedish software company Verendus aims to change that with the launch of a mobile app designed specifically for mechanics.
“The workshop is a critical part of many dealerships, yet it’s often where digitalisation lags behind,” says Henrik Gerdin, chief product officer at Verendus (pictured above). “With this app, we’re giving mechanics a user-friendly tool that simplifies their day-to-day tasks and helps raise the overall quality of service.”
The app allows technicians to manage work orders directly from a mobile phone or tablet. Key functions include clocking in and out, uploading photos and files to jobs, adding notes, marking tasks as complete, and recording installed parts.
Marine mechanics often work in environments where flexibility is key. Gerdin notes diagnosing issues dockside, servicing onboard systems, and operating mobile workshops that carry out repairs at the customer’s location as examples. “Unlike car mechanics, they’re not always near a stationary workstation. That’s why we’ve built the app to work seamlessly on phones and tablets, so technicians can document their work wherever they are. It’s designed to reduce admin and improve service quality, especially in environments where time and precision matter.”
Developed in close collaboration with Verendus customers, the app builds on the company’s web-based dealer management system, which has supported the leisure vehicle sector since 2010. Verendus software is used by marine retailers, caravan and motorhome dealers, and motorcycle, snowmobile and ATV specialists across Europe.
According to Jonas Dalin, UK sales lead & project manager at Verendus: “The interest from the marine segment has been especially strong, which confirms how vital it is to support their unique workflows. In a marine workshop, tasks are often spread across the yard, the dock, and various storage facilities. With the app, mechanics can clock in on jobs, add notes and photos, and stay connected to the workshop system without needing to return to a desktop. The time tracking feature is also a key part of helping marine workshops operate smarter and more profitably – by improving planning, analyse where time is spent and ensure they get paid for the actual work done.”

Gerdin says the new tool reflects Verendus’ commitment to serve dealerships beyond sales and rental operations: “A mobile app for mechanics has been one of the most requested features for some time. Our goal is to be a true technology partner – helping our customers move forward with digital tools that raise the standard across both sales and service.”
One of the first pilot users, Seacastle – a boat brokerage and full-service marina based on Lidingö, Sweden – reports early benefits. “The new mechanic app is a welcome addition to our workshop,” says Magnus Ericson, site manager at Seacastle. “By reducing administrative tasks, it helps simplify the day-to-day work for our team and creates a more efficient workflow. Over time, we hope it will contribute to both improved profitability and an even better service experience for our customers.”
Founded in 2010, Verendus employs 40 people and operates from Jönköping, Sweden, with offices in Norway and Germany. Since 2017, it has been part of the Nordic software group Progrits.
