US marine propulsion firm Flux Marine has announced a $15m funding injection to scale production of its all-electric marine outboards and expand sales of its core technology.

The funding round for the Bristol, Rhode Island-headquartered company included participation from existing investors and customers, as well as a new investor, Collide Capital. The firm’s total funding is now at over $30m since 2020.

Flux Marine has fully commercialised its 115hp high-powered electric outboard and modular battery pack, both designed from the ground up.

Focused on propulsion technology, the firm works with boat builders to provide electric options and expand market research. Its modular electric powertrain and battery architecture are compatible with a wide range of hulls.

Partners include Scout Boats, Highfield, Flagship Pontoons, Hyfoil and, most recently, Zodiac Marine. Customers are using Flux-powered boats for a range of applications, from aquaculture workboats in Maine to rental fleets on lakes and twin-outboard superyacht tenders.

Flux Marine reports that it delivered more high-voltage electric propulsion systems in North America over the past year than any other company.
