Finnish boatbuilder Sargo Boats has named Matti Laurila as new CEO. Laurila will assume this role from 2 January 2026.
Thomas Sarin, who joined Sargo in 1997 and has served as CEO for the last 15 years, will continue to work for the family owned boatbuilder and will be responsible for product development, customer relations and sales. He will also take over the position of chairman of the board after Laurila.
Laurila has previously been CEO of several companies across different industries in the region.
Under Sarin’s leadership, turnover has grown significantly. Sarin emphasises the value of bringing in a new CEO with deep knowledge of the boating industry: “Laurila has served as the chairman of the board for the past two years and knows both the company and us well. His ability to develop and further structure our operations gives us new capacity for continued growth.”
Based in Kokkola, Finland, Sargo, is strengthening its team with this strategic leadership move. The company aims to move into a new chapter of growth, and offer new, attractive boat models to the market.
“We build exceptional boats, and we will remain a family-owned company with a positive spirit that genuinely cares about people. That is essential for creating stable and long-term growth together,” says Laurila.
