Bonomi appoints Saim Marine to distribute Joy mooring system in Italy

Bonomi's Joy cleat range shown on deck - to be distributed in Italy by Saim Marine

Bonomi has chosen Saim Marine to distribute its Joy product range – cleats with built-in capstans.

The cleats are designed to facilitate mooring manoeuvres, as they reduce the effort of pulling the ropes and, above all, of having to secure them to the cleat with the ropes under tension.

The Joy system (which won a DAME award in 2021) integrates a simple, freely rotating pulley on one side and a self-locking pulley on the other. It combines all the functions required by a crew member during port manoeuvres in a single device and eliminates the need for capstan winches. The system facilitates final attachment of the mooring line thanks to the mechanical seal in the self-tailing pulley. Full details are available on the company’s website.

Made of 316L stainless steel, Joy’s available with nominal pull capacities of 80, 100, 300, 400, and 500 kg, with a 12V or 24V electric motor, for mooring lines from 15 to 35mm, for boats from 30 to 120 feet, and is equipped with a single- or double-foot pedal for placement on the deck. The 400 and 500kg nominal pull models are available only with a 24V motor and come standard with a double foot pedal and control box.

The agreement between Bonomi and Saim is for exclusive distribution in Italy.

Cristiano Bonomi founded his company in 2016 with the aim of designing and developing innovative products in various fields.

“SAIM is the ideal partner for us, given our shared values, quality standards, and staff skills,” he says. “I’m confident this agreement will usher in a peaceful and fruitful collaboration that will continue to be successful for both of us”.

The agreement, effective 1 January 2026, provides for the exclusive distribution in Italy with Saim Marine distributing the entire range throughout Italy, both as original equipment and in the aftermarket.

“We are thrilled about this new partnership and, after the interest JOY aroused during the Genoa Boat Show, we are confident that this small but great innovation will become a standard on all pleasure boats,” says Marco Donà, CEO of Saim Marine.

The Joy range will be at boot Düsseldorf: Hall 11, stand A24. Follow all MIN’s coverage of the show.
