Sixteen of the 17 provisional entrants in the 2026 McIntyre Golden Globe Race are now in Les Sables-d’Olonne for the final countdown to their extraordinary solo, non-stop and unassisted race around the world.

The J/70 Mixed-Plus World Championship, hosted by the Royal Danish Yacht Club, completed three more races Friday, bringing the Championship total to nine.

The National 12 fleet heads to Shoreham Sailing Club over the August Bank Holiday for four days of racing, Fand with several big names in contention, this year’s championship is wide open.

After a gentle, glass-like delay on Day 1, the weather gods delivered classic Solent conditions: building sea breezes, glorious sunshine and a proper mid-week ‘Big Wednesday’ low-pressure system to keep everyone on their toes.
