Axopar has introduced the Simrad NSO 4 multifunction display as a new helm option, while completing its 38ft range with the Cross Top. The company has also launched the new Brabus Shadow 38 range, developed with Brabus, at the Cannes Yachting Festival.
New Simrad helm option
The NSO 4 is available as an option on the Axopar 45 and Brabus Shadow 38 ranges, while it will be standard on the Brabus Shadow 45 from model year 2027. The touchscreen display is offered alongside the existing Simrad NSS 4 system.
Both displays run Simrad’s Neon operating system and share the same underlying capabilities. The NSS 4 combines a touchscreen with a physical control wheel, while the NSO 4 has no physical controls on the display and uses a glass-to-edge finish.
NSO 4 provides a central interface for navigation, radar, sonar, engine data, onboard systems and camera feeds. Simrad states that its eight-core processor provides a 35 per cent faster boot time than the previous generation and allows charts, radar and camera views to operate simultaneously.
On Axopar boats, the system works alongside the dedicated Axopar User Interface.
“Some owners prefer the tactile confidence of physical controls; others want the simplicity of a fully integrated touchscreen helm,” says Kari Kulojärvi, CEO of Axopar. “Our goal is not simply to offer the latest technology, but to let customers choose the helm experience that suits the way they actually drive.”
The NSO 4 is initially offered with a twin 16-inch display setup on the Axopar 45 as part of a premium option package. On the Brabus Shadow 38, a 16-inch NSO 4 is available through the optional Extended Navigation Package.
The system supports HALO radar, S3100H and S5100 sonar modules and Active Imaging HD, which requires the S3100H. It is also compatible with C-MAP X-gen charts and selected third-party chart providers, as well as Mercury, CZone, SiriusXM and other third-party systems.
Brabus Shadow 38 adds two power options
Brabus Marine has introduced the Shadow 38 range in two power configurations: the 850hp Shadow 850 XC Cross Cabin and the 1,000hp Shadow 1000 XC Cross Cabin.
Both models use the same 38ft platform and layout concept but have different engine configurations. The Shadow 850 uses twin Mercury Verado 425 V10 outboards producing a combined 625kW, with a claimed top speed of up to 55 knots.
The Shadow 1000 is powered by twin Mercury Racing 500R V8 outboards, producing 735kW. Its claimed top speed is up to 60 knots.
The Shadow 38 has exposed carbon-fibre elements, twin Simrad multifunction displays and a range of deck configurations. Available arrangements include different aft-deck layouts, integrated wet-bar options and activity platforms. The front cabin provides sleeping accommodation for two, with two additional berths available.
The Shadow 1000 XC Cross Cabin made its world premiere at the Cannes Yachting Festival, where both models are being displayed at Stand 160 in Port Canto. The Shadow 1000 will also be shown at the Monaco Yacht Show from 23–26 September.
Axopar completes its 38 range
Axopar has added the 38 Cross Top to its 38 range, joining the enclosed 38 XC Cross Cabin and open 38 Sun Top on the same platform.
The three models share the same hull, deck plan, engine options and modular interior, with the main difference being the level of enclosure. The Cross Top combines a sheltered helm and forward section with an open cockpit.
A forward-tilting wraparound windscreen provides protection from wind, spray and glare while maintaining visibility. Optional roll-down canopies can provide additional shelter when conditions change.
“Our ambition was never simply to design three different models,” says Jan-Erik Viitala, founding partner at Axopar. “It was to build one platform capable of serving genuinely different ways of boating, without asking anyone to compromise to get there. The Cross Cabin, Sun Top and Cross Top are three distinct ways to experience the water, sharing the same Axopar DNA.”
All three 38 models use a twin-stepped 20-degree V hull. Twin Mercury Verado outboards are available in V8 300hp or V10 350hp configurations, with a claimed top speed of more than 45 knots. Axopar gives a cruise consumption figure of approximately 3.0 litres per nautical mile and a range of around 250 nautical miles from the standard 830-litre fuel tank.
The Cross Top can be configured with individual helm seats or convertible U-sofas with electric hi-lo tables. Other options include a pantry module, an enclosed toilet with shower and foldable aft activity platforms. The forward cabin sleeps two, with two further berths available.
The Axopar 38 Cross Top has a starting price of €197,800 with twin Mercury V8 Verado 300hp engines and €212,770 with twin Mercury V10 Verado 350hp engines, excluding VAT and additional costs.
